Eye to Brain / Maurits van de Laar
Pascale-Sophie Kaparis draws an organic variety of developing structures. In the Eye-series the veins in the eye, branching off further and further, are reproduced in red ink. In the gallery she will hang three large sheets of paper suspended form the ceiling, showing on one side a close up of the vein structure and on the other side the image of an eye. In the Mental Shapes-series the
transformation of the visual information in the brain is visualized. In these drawings the red lines are partially covered with Tipp Ex to produce a layered image. Ultimately, the drawings are also meant to serve as a score for an audio work.
In spring 2015 a sequel to this exhibition will be shown at GEMAK in The Hague with musicians reacting to Bennett’s animation and an audio work based on Kaparis's drawings.
